Safe to eat here? I don't know....

These pictures were taken per the request of several people who went to Hammock Beach with me.

On the way home from our weekend at Hammock Beach, we stopped at a park to eat.
We were intrigued by the sign declaring that it was the site of an archaeological dig where they are uncovering an old plantation named Mala Compra.

Everything was fine.
We ate, strolled around and looked at the dig site,
and then we noticed.... The Trees.

Black goo was oozing from this one.

An electric light growing out of a tree?
Or did the tree grow around an existing light?
How many years would that take?

Ummm....

A tree growing within a tree.
How is the bigger tree still alive?!

Here is part of my team of "weirdness finders".
They are checking out a tree that for some reason has decided to grow along the ground, rather than straight up.

What has caused these deformities?

The key must lie in the "archaeological dig".
Yeah right -- they are digging up an old plantation.
More like an alien space ship.
SOMETHING is making these trees turn out so freaky!

Why else would that plantation be named "Mala Compra"?
Translation: Bad Purchase.
